Cold Pressed Almond Oil — Pure, Unscented, for Skin, Hair and Massage

This is sweet almond oil, cold pressed and completely unscented — no added fragrance, no colour, no fillers. Unlike most of our range, almond oil in our catalogue is positioned for topical use — skin, hair and massage — rather than as a cooking oil, though a small amount can be used raw in food if you like a very mild, nutty note.

How we press it. Almonds are cold pressed in our wooden ghani at low temperature, then filtered and bottled. Nothing is added at any stage — no synthetic fragrance (a common addition in commercial "almond oil" sold for cosmetic use), no preservatives, no dilution with cheaper carrier oils. What's in the bottle is exactly what came out of the almond.

Why unscented, unrefined almond oil matters for topical use. A lot of almond oil sold for skin and hair is either heavily refined or has synthetic almond fragrance added to mimic a stronger scent — neither is necessary, and both move you further from what almond oil actually is. Cold-pressed, unrefined almond oil retains its natural vitamin E content and a light, genuinely mild scent (almost neutral, rather than strongly "almond-y" the way fragranced products often are), which is part of why it's commonly used as a gentle carrier oil and for sensitive skin, including for infants.

How to use it

Use Notes
Baby massage One of the most common traditional uses — see FAQ for safety notes
Face & body moisturiser Light texture, absorbs without heavy residue
Hair oiling / scalp massage Used plain or warmed slightly before application
Carrier oil for other actives Neutral base for mixing with other topical ingredients
Light culinary drizzle Optional — mild, nutty flavour; not intended for cooking with heat

Storing it right

Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat — a bathroom cabinet or bedroom drawer works fine for the topical-use bottle, just avoid direct exposure to sun or a warm windowsill. Keep the cap tightly closed between uses. Use within 6–8 months of opening for the best quality; unrefined almond oil doesn't carry synthetic preservatives, so it's more sensitive to heat and light exposure than fragranced commercial versions.

Frequently asked questions

Is this almond oil safe for baby massage?
Sweet almond cold-pressed oil is one of the more commonly used oils for infant massage in Indian households, valued for being unscented and additive-free. As with any oil used on a baby for the first time, do a small patch test and consult your pediatrician, particularly if your baby has sensitive skin, eczema, or any known nut-related sensitivity in the family.

Why doesn't this smell strongly of almonds?
Genuine cold-pressed sweet almond oil has a light, mild scent — the stronger "almond" smell in many commercial products comes from added synthetic fragrance, which we don't use. What you're smelling (or not smelling much of) is the real, unadulterated oil.

Can I use this oil for cooking?
It's primarily intended and priced for topical/cosmetic use — skin, hair and massage. A small amount can be used raw as a mild drizzle, but it isn't meant for cooking with heat, and we don't recommend it as a substitute for our culinary oils.

Is this the same as bitter almond oil?
No — this is sweet almond oil, the type used safely for skin, hair and food. Bitter almond oil is a completely different product derived from bitter almonds and is not intended for topical or culinary use in the way sweet almond oil is; we do not sell bitter almond oil.

How much should I use for a face or body massage?
A small amount goes a long way — a few drops to a teaspoon depending on the area, gently warmed between your palms before application if you prefer.

Does this oil expire, and how do I know if it has?
Unrefined almond oil doesn't have artificial preservatives, so it's best used within 6–8 months of opening. If it develops a sharp, unpleasant smell different from its usual mild scent, or the texture changes noticeably, it's past its best and should be discarded.
